Ilm-Possible: Community Event
Sewa Development Trust Sindh organized Community Event on 20 November 2019 at Daharki, District Ghotki to award certification to young ilm-ambassadors for successful participation in the Ilm-Possible capacity building training and completion of social action project by enrolling out of school children aged 6 years in the Government Primary Schools. More than 200 community leaders attended the Event. In the Community Event 07 Mohalla Committees had showcased their work (Success stories, achievements, presentation on issues of schools) by setting-up their stalls.
Mr. Waqar Ahmed gave detailed presentation about the Take a Child to School Project being run in District Khairpur, Ghotki, Larkana and QambaShahdadkot by Sewa Development Trust Sindh in association with British Council Pakistan since 2014; he shared the 2019 achievements of TACS; Conducted 03 trainings workshops for Ilmbassadors, Trained 92 Volunteers 1487 OOSC enrolled in schools though volunteers, formed and activated 07- Mohalla Committees, DOSTI Program running in 8 schools of District Ghotki
The guest speakers were Mr. Jam Fatah Khan Samejo, Educationist & Social activist Sindh, Mr. Safdar Hussain Soomro, Deputy director social welfare department Ghotki and Ms. Shaista Begum, Deputy District officer education department.
Mr. Allah Warayo shared success story of Roshni Mohalla Committee formed by community members to Support in identification of volunteers, Support to volunteers on ground, Retain enrolled students under TACS program, Conduct educational event at school level.
Mr. Safdar Hussain Soomro, Deputy Director Social Welfare Department, Government of Sindh said that primary education is the first step of child towards its educational growth, if the child could not receive the healthy environment, the child could not be able to get the primary education properly. This is the major responsibility of education department to provide essential and basic needs to primary schools that our coming generation can get the better educational environment. The role of organizations like SDTS is very much vital for the betterment of the Education, I am working very closely with SDTS and I found their strategy inspiring, other organizations may follow the footprints of SDTS.
Deputy District Officer Ms. Shaista Soomro said primary education has to be enjoyable for children. Learning for children can come from playing and doing things that create natural interest among them.
Mr. Jam Fatah Khan Sameejo appreciated the contributions of British Council, Sewa Development Trust Sindh for organizing such an enormous event in a backward considered area .Mr Sameejo Further said that, he is so much thankful to British Council and other funding organizations who are supporting Pakistan in particular filed of Education, he also shared that Sindh government is desperately working to improve the level of graph in Education.
Mr. Jam Fatah Khan Sameejo said that Take a child to school project has brought about quite a considerable change into the mindset of people and has raised the motivation level of education paralleled sports amongst the students.
This event has proved that if Government teachers are better trained then they give out their level best efforts towards any objective and so hats off to Sewa Development Trust Sindh and British Council for training these people and directing them for betterment. These newly evolved behaviors will bring many improvements in the system and provoke the rest for similar behaviors as well.
