International Volunteer Day 2019
International Volunteer Day (IVD) is a chance for individual volunteers, communities and organizations to promote their contributions to development at the local, national and international levels, IVD is a unique opportunity for people and volunteer-involving organizations to work with government agencies, non-profit institutions, community groups, academia and the private sector.
IVD was established by the United Nations General Assembly through Resolution 40/212 on 17 December 1985. Since then, the UN system and civil society organizations have successfully joined volunteers around the world to celebrate the Day on 5 December,
Sewa Development organization has celebrated the International Volunteer Day (IVD) on 05 December 2019, A huge number of youth participated into the event and discuss about various problems of the youth Dr. Khadim Hussain Dahot Managing Director SDTS has spoke out the different dimension of volunteerism and the social problems of the youth.
Dr. Khadim Hussain Dahot, Managing Director of Sewa Development Trust Sindh SDTS delivered a detailed speech to the youths at the platform of Azme Naujwan project activities, He said that, I thought there is no any positive development in this society, But really feeling immense and proud that you all are engaged in the productive work. He also said that there are many ways to contribute in the society, volunteers should be aware by their responsibilities. Further, he said that a huge numbers of volunteers are working in the abroad. He also quoted that in the earthquake of 2016 the volunteers of all over the country involved in the District Khairpur and they worked with the full dedication for the earthquake affected areas. Moreover, He share some of the poetry of mystic poets of Pakistan such as Sachal sarmast, Baba fareed and some other sufi poets. He emphasized on youth to get engaged in the active participation of Azme Naujwan activities.
Mr. Muhammad Ali Sahto Center Coordinator of Azme Naujwan expressed his concluding remarks and thanked to all the participants for sparaing their precious time for Azme Naujwan session and International Volunteer day.
Mr. Riaz Ahmed Manglo delivered a detailed speech on the relevance of youth and concept of volunteerism and why we need to celebrate this event. He said, The Indian youth is more empowered and motivated because they have set their goals, they have globally proved themselves. However, they belong to a developing country. Further, he expressed his proud feelings and said that I feel honor when I observe the youth of Khairpur to use their skills and voluntarism.
According to Riaz Manglo, Azme Nuajwan engage in a wide number of activities but several of these dominate. These include culture and arts, recreation and social activities, environmental, sports, economic, social and community development and other education..
